My Good Friend Peter V.

This is a picture of my friend Peter.

Peter is a one of the Special Campers that attended IRBC this June. This is the first year that Peter has been to special camp in about 7 or 8 years. Living in North Iowa, for what ever reason he had not been around for a long time until this year.

Peter and I met a few years back and struck up a friendship in a heartbeat. Although, we had not seen each other in years it was like we never missed a day!

Peter does not communicate verbally, mostly just grunting and pointing, somehow I figured out how to communicate with him even with a great deal of frustration. The first week he was at camp we struggled throughout the week to be able to "talk" together. late on Thursday he told me he had something to show me. It was a dual display device that he could type on and I was able to read sitting across the table from him. I asked him if he had this with him all week (knowing full-well that he did). He just smiled and said yes!

Peter is a special friend!
