A Kentucky man was killed when the motorcycle he was riding was struck in a head-on crash involving three vehicles Saturday afternoon on U.S. 50 in Dodson Township, Highland County.

Fatally injured in the crash was Kevin A. Coulter, 49, of Burlington, Ky., who was riding a 2005 Harley Davidson Dyna Super Glide motorcycle, according to the Wilmington Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP).

Coulter was wearing his helmet at the time of the crash, which occurred at approximately 4:07 p.m. Saturday

Coulter and another vehicle, a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup truck, driven by Randall Sanders, 51, of Lebanon, were traveling westbound on U.S. 50, according to the OSHP report.

The third vehicle, a 1998 Dodge Ram 3500 pickup truck driven by Curtis E. Adams, 18,

of Lynchburg, was eastbound on U.S. 50.

"Mr. Adams failed to maintain assured clear distance ahead and swerved to the left to avoid striking a stopped vehicle in the roadway," said Sgt. Ed Mejia, assistant commander of the Wilmington OSHP post. " He (Adams) then went left of center, striking the motorcycle driven by Coulter and the Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Mr. Sanders, head on."

Coulter was pronounced dead at the scene by a flight nurse from Miami Valley Hospital Care Flight.

Sanders and Adams were not injured.

"While this crash remains under investigation, alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this crash," Mejia said.

"While these types of crashes are tragic, nearly all of them are preventable," Mejia said. "We continue to strongly encourage motorists to slow down and pay close attention to their driving habits and drive defensively."
