Looking Forward To March Madness

It's the most wonderful time of the year! March madness is just around the corner and I'm getting stoked, the Iowa Hawkeyes are doing very well.

Iowa now goes on the road with games at Minnesota and Illinois then they close out the year with Penn State and Wisconsin at Carver Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City. The Hawkeyes are ranked #20 in the nation and #1 in the Big 10. With a conference record of 9 - 3 and an overall record of 20 - 6, Iowa seems to be a shoe in for the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament in March.

I'm so excited about the tournament this year, Maryland is ranked #4 nationally, Duke is powered by the J.J. Redick, Gonzaga has the long hair Adam Morrison and the UNI Panthers are in contention for a conference title and an invitation to the big dance. The down side is that at this time it looks like the Iowa State Cyclones will miss the tourney sitting at only a 14-10 record over all along with the Drake Bulldogs at 12-15. Both of these teams would have to win their conference tournaments to get in, at large invites do not seem very likely at this time of the season.

I love this game!

I Remain,

Pastor Steve

MARYLAND #4 NATIONALLY????? You're thinking of the GALS. Maryland's men are once again struggling just to get into the show. Last year they missed the "Big Dance" for the first time in many years and unless they turn things around in a big hurry, this year will probably be a repeat.

This die-hard Terp Fan is very disappointed, and am now rooting for the Hawks to win it all this year (unless for some unseen reason the Turtles make it and have to play Alford's boys).

As for the ladies......the Terps are coached by Brenda Frese, whose sister Stacy Frese was recently a sharpshooter for the Iowa St Cyclones. The Lady Terps are 22-3, and their 3 losses have been to then #1 Tennessee and twice to current #1 Duke. They also have a great win AT then #1 North Carolina. The ACC women currently have the #1, #2 and #4 teams in the country!!
