On Saturday September 19 I attended the ordination counsel for Nick Oliver.
Nick is a very good friend and fellow minister now; when I first met Nick he was a Contender (Summer Camp Ministry Team) from Faith Baptist Bible College. He was in my office and notice that his Grandfather was at my ordination and had signed my ordination certificate. From that point forward we have been friends.
When in his educational process, Nick needed to participate in a pastoral apprenticeship, he choose to come to Clear Lake. Nick ended up living in our home and to say the least he got to know our family very well!
It has been a great adventure watching God work in and through Nick's life. I am so proud of what God has done with Nick and he gave an excellent representation of all he has learned through his college and seminary experience as well as what God has done in his life.
On Sunday the 20th, the Fellowship Baptist Church of Des Moines ordained Nick Oliver to the Gospel Ministry. It was an honor to be asked by the Church Family to speak at the special service. Pastor David Burman brought the charge to the Church and I was asked to bring the charge to the Candidate. It was an incredible service and I'm blessed for having a part!
Thanks to the Church and to Nick as well!
This is the place where I talk about what is on my mind! My plan is to let you in on what drives me, what motivates me & what fires me up! Please stop by often, leave a note or comment on what I've written or what I've posted. Pastor Steve (1 Timothy 1:16)

That Is Going To Cost Me!
In my last post I was talking about getting ready for archery hunting season. Part of the process is that every Thursday in late August and September a few guys get together and practice at the Baptist Camp archery range.
So it was this evening when I had an incredible shot! I got a bulls eye and then a bit later I got my 2nd "Robin Hood"!
Check it out!
The shot was a bulls eye - maybe a bit low, but nevertheless!
Hard to see but that is both arrows!
The thing to notice here is that the nock of the first arrow is driven onto the shaft!
Does not happen everyday - kind of costly at about 10 to 12 dollars an arrow, but what a cool experience.

Bits & Boredom!
Sorry for the long laps in posting!
Couple of things:
Men's Retreat - Our church was in charge of hosting 450 men for an overnight retreat. Jason Nightingale of Wordsower ministries was our speaker and he did a great job! Everyone seemed to have fun and really enjoy the break.
Driving Bus - I'm back on the road again. Driving to sports event for Ventura, thus far I've driven cross country, JH football and varsity football. Always enjoy driving and the kids I deal with are super polite and almost always say "thank you" for driving.
Running - Since I've lost some weight I've taken up running. I'm training for an event in Des Moines in October, it will be my first "official" 5K and I'm planning to share the event with a lot of my family. Daniel, Susan Lynn and I will be running together that day. I'll keep you posted! My times are getting better and better and my best time for 3 miles was just this morning when I clocked in at 29:18! Not too bad for a 47 year old former fat dude!
Bow Season - I getting fired up for the archery season this year! There are a bunch of us who get together and practice out at the Camp. Everything is coming together and I'm looking forward to getting my tag and climb into my stand. I had some great opportunities last year but alas, no meat in the freezer...this year must be different! I hungry for venison steaks on the grill!
That's enough for now ... I'll be back!
